Sensitive restoration at riverside location
Stenball was tasked with transforming this tired 70s hotel and pub in Alcester, near Stratford upon Avon. Set in a tranquil riverside setting, it was turned from an ugly duckling into a beautiful swan. The existing building has been sensitively restored across four floors and includes nine bedrooms, uncovering some long-forgotten features along the way. Downstairs, an elegant function room also forms part of the design. A spectacular double-height oak-framed glass extension was added and a stunning terrace stretches out over the water.
Stenball had to use boats to erect scaffolding, then demolish the garden room above the river, carefully working around the huge millwheel.
